“Shark Magic” will be released on September 20, 2019, and is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Music, Amazon, and iTunes. Eighties Slang self produced the release and the songs were recorded, mixed and mastered in Chicago, IL at NoiseFloor LTD.
We all float amongst an ethereal field that governs our interactions, enthralled and repulsed by turbulent emotions and undiscovered instincts. It is so mysterious, misunderstood and savage that it is like Shark Magic. Eighties Slang summons this vital field through five songs that map our collisions with each other and sketch the bridge between our physical and mental worlds. The darker the more beautiful.
Sweat & Ambulance details a cathartic, out-of-body experience with a foreboding arpeggiator, mesmerizing drum beats, and a groovy, dynamic instrumental close.
Impossible Me describes a tragic, closeted covenant of someone afraid to love. With a foot firmly in the 80s, the song conveys a universal longing and honesty. It's a wash danceable synths and thick groove that culminates with a towering yet tender guitar solo.
Lower Wacker is a painful, ruminating descent into anger, intimacy and deception featuring unsettling synths and a pummelling bass. On Lower Wacker drive, there’s no difference between the physical and mental, the musical and lyrical.
With the most intimate song of the EP, Lost & Found plays out the fantasies inspired by that crush on your morning commute, supported by an earnest guitar. The chorus blooms with yearning lead by lush harmony from frequent collaborator Bri Fitzpatrick.
Don’t Call Me Out is a self-effacing rock-story that celebrates the pitiful mania induced by a sudden breakup. Bouncy, frenetic rhythms explode around a phat, overdriven guitar that jaunts you through the stages of grief.
