about

It’s funny how we fall in love, like an accident no different than tripping on sidewalk.

Oakmen’s newest single “Just a Start” is set in a backdrop of budget apartments, cracked sidewalks, graffiti, and cheap liquor. The song bounces open with scratchy acoustic guitar and builds to reveal the vocal interplay of Ted and Bri Fitzpatrick (guest vocalist) which apexes in a kaleidoscopic chorus. “Just a Start” is a story of romance that is relatable and honest, falling face-first into a new life.

“Just a Start” is featured in the indie feature film When Jeff Tried to Save the World. Directed by Kendall Goldberg, When Jeff Tried to Save the World follows a bowling alley manager (Jon Heder) trying to save his bowling alley and, in turn, himself. The song underscores Jeff's initial fumbling with love interest, Samantha.
